Am I eligible to vote in Rhode Island?
To be eligible to vote in Rhode Island, you must be:
A citizen of the United States of America
A resident of Rhode Island and the area in which you are registered
At least 18 years of age on Election Day (although you can register to vote at 16)
However, you are not eligible to vote if you are:
A convicted felon serving a sentence in prison. Voting rights for felons are restored after the sentence has been served.
Judged mentally incompetent by a court

How do I request an absentee ballot in Rhode Island?
To receive an absentee/mail ballot, you must fill out and submit a mail ballot application form. You can either download one of these forms online, or you can pick one up at your local board of canvassers or contact your local board and have them send an application to you.
Once you have fully and correctly filled out the mail ballot application form, you can submit it to your local board of canvassers. These forms must be submitted before 4:00 pm on the 21st day prior to an election to be accepted.
If an emergency keeps you from getting to the polls after the 21st day deadline, you can request an emergency ballot, which you can submit after the 21st day before the election.
What do I need to bring to the polls in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island law requires you to show some form of valid personal identification document when checking in at your polling place. Some forms of accepted ID include:
A driver's license/permit
U.S. passport
Student ID
U.S. Military ID
What special accommodations are available?
In addition to mail ballots, voters with disabilities have accommodations at their local polling place. Every polling place ought to have an AutoMARK machine. This machine is equipped with multiple features that are designed to help voters with disabilities cast their ballots.
