Am I eligible to vote in New Mexico?
To vote in New Mexico elections, you must:
Be a citizen of the United States of America
Be a resident of the state of New Mexico
Be 18 years of age by or on election day
You cannot vote in an election if you:
Have been declared legally mentally incompetent
Are a convicted felon still serving out the terms of a sentence (although felons can register to vote and vote normally after they have fulfilled the terms of their sentence)

Online/By Mail: October 15, 2024
In-person: October 15, 2024
Missed the Deadline?: You can register at your County Clerk's office up to the Saturday before the election.
How do I request an absentee ballot in New Mexico?
To request an absentee ballot, you can visit the New Mexico Absentee Ballot Application website. Additionally, you can contact your local county clerk in person, by mail, or by phone to request a ballot, or you can download an Absentee Ballot Application, fill it out, and submit it to your local county clerk.
What do I need to bring to the polls in New Mexico?
Registered voters are not generally required to provide any type of identification when they go to vote. There are some exceptions, however.
If you register to vote for the first time by mail and you did not include a copy of your ID, you will have to show some valid form of ID at the polling place. Additionally, the City of Albuquerque and the City of Rio Rancho have city ordinances in place that require voters to show an ID at the polls.
What special accommodations are available?
If you are disabled, you can ask for assistance at the polls. Additionally, you can choose a person to help you, as long as that person is not a candidate, your employer, an agent of your employer, or a union representative.
