A citizen of the United States of America
A citizen of Michigan and the town in which you register to vote
At least 18 years of age on election day
When is Michigan's voter registration deadline?
Online/By Mail: October 21, 2024
In-person: November 5, 2024
How do I request an absentee ballot in Michigan?
The Michigan state government allows for no-excuse absentee voting, so any eligible and registered voter can vote by means of absentee ballot. Absentee ballots can be downloaded on the Michigan Secretary of State website.
Once you have filled out the application, you can submit it to your local county clerk by mail, email, fax, or by hand as long as your signature is clearly visible.
What special accommodations are available?
As long as a disabled voter is otherwise eligible to vote, they have a right to access a polling place and to a reasonable accommodation at that polling place. Each polling place is required to have at least one voting booth that allows voters to cast their ballots while sitting, in addition to a Voter Assist Terminal.
Voters with disabilities can also request assistance from an election worker who should be able to help them fill out their ballot or answer relevant questions. However, voters cannot receive assistance at a polling place from their employer, an agent of their employer, or a union representative.
