Am I eligible to vote in Alaska?

To vote in Alaska elections, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Have lived in Alaska and your election district for at least 30 days before an election

  • Have registered to vote on or before the registration deadline, and not be registered to vote anywhere else

When is Alaska's voter registration deadline?

Paper applications must be received or postmarked on or before at least 30 days prior to an election. Online or in-person registration must be completed within 30 days of an election.

How do I request an absentee ballot in Alaska?

Absentee ballots can be obtained by mail, email, or fax. Your application for an absentee ballot must be received 10 days before Election Day.

Along with military personnel and families, students attending college out of state, and people living or traveling outside the United States, Alaska offers absentee voting to anyone living or working in a remote part of the state.

What special accommodations are available?

Alaska's polling places offer touch-screen voting and accessibility help for voters who need it. You may also designate someone to help you vote as long as it isn't a political candidate, an employer, or someone representing your employer or union. 

Along with English-language ballots, Alaska offers citizens ballots in Yup'ik, Gwich'in, Iñupiaq, Koyukon, Siberian Yupik, Aleut, Tagalog, and Spanish.
