Georgia
Am I eligible to vote in Georgia?
To vote in Georgia elections, you must be:
A United States citizen
A legal resident of the county where you live
At least 18 years old (you can register at 17 1/2 years old)
When is Georgia's voter registration deadline?
By Mail: October 7, 2024
Online/In-Person/Faxed: October 7, 2024
How do I request an absentee ballot in Georgia?
Absentee ballots are issued to Georgia voters who:
Are unavoidably absent from your polling site on Election Day
Are serving in the military away from your polling place, or are a spouse or family member of such a person
Are Georgia residents temporarily living outside the United States.
These ballots can be faxed, mailed in, or brought in-person to your county board of registrars' office. According to the SB202 bill, Georgia requires an ID when voting absentee.
What special accommodations are available?
Georgia's polling places accommodate disabled voters. If there's a line at the polls, disabled voters can ask to be moved to the front. Voters can use a machine that casts their vote via a touchscreen, magnification devices, or an audio ballot.
In federal elections, you can get help voting from a friend or neighbor, or from an election official. The person helping you cannot be your employer or an officer or agency of your labor union. In all other elections, poll workers are not allowed to help people vote.
Note that SB202 makes it illegal to give "any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector... within 25 feet of any voter standing in line to vote at any polling place." What this means is that you can't provide food or drinks to a person waiting in line to vote.
